Job Title: Senior UC Engineer - Cisco Webex Calling
Location: Lafayette Hill, PA ( Hybrid )
Duration: 6-months CTH
Hours: 40 hours/week with occasional after-hours migration/cutover support
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a Senior Unified Communications (UC) Engineer to support the organization's ongoing migration from legacy telephony platforms to Cisco Webex Calling .
This individual will serve as a hands-on UC technical lead supporting cloud calling migrations across Client's locations nationwide. The role will work directly with internal IT teams, business stakeholders, telecommunications providers, and Cisco/Client resources to gather requirements, plan migrations, coordinate number porting, execute cutovers, and provide ongoing UC support.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on Cisco Unified Communications experience with practical experience migrating organizations to Cisco Webex Calling. This position does not require an AI architect or AI developer; however, the engineer should understand current Cisco AI capabilities and be comfortable discussing AI concepts and potential use cases with technical and business stakeholders.
Top Must Have's:
5+ years of Cisco Unified Communications engineering / Collaboration background experience
Experience migrating Cisco UC/CUCM environments to Webex Calling
Strong experience with Cisco Webex Calling
Experience with Webex Contact Center (preferred if they've used it, but required if that's a major part of client's environment)
Experience leading enterprise UC projects from design through implementation
Strong troubleshooting skills across Cisco collaboration technologies and operational support capabilities.
Understanding of PSTN, number porting, carriers, dial plans, calling configuration, and migration processes.
Excellent customer-facing communication skills
Ability to serve as the technical lead and mentor junior engineers
Required Experience:
Experience migrating legacy telephony environments to cloud calling.
Experience supporting enterprise UC environments.
Ability to independently manage UC migration activities from requirements through production cutover.
Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead migrations from legacy phone systems to Cisco Webex Calling.
Gather technical and business requirements from client's profit centers and internal stakeholders.
Plan and execute end-to-end Webex Calling migrations.
Coordinate telephone number porting and carrier/provider activities.
Support migration scheduling, implementation, validation, and post-cutover activities.
Conduct demonstrations and explain the capabilities and business value of Cisco/Webex solutions.
Provide ongoing administration and engineering support for the UC environment.
Troubleshoot calling, configuration, connectivity, and user issues.
Open and manage Cisco TAC cases as necessary.
Assist with Webex Contact Center and related Cisco collaboration technologies.
Partner with internal client's teams, Cisco, telecommunications providers, and other vendors.
Participate in occasional after-hours migrations and production cutovers.
Help transition the environment toward a steady-state support/managed services model following the migration program.
Preferred Experience:
Webex Contact Center experience.
Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) experience.
Experience supporting geographically distributed or multi-site organizations.
Experience with large-scale Webex Calling deployments.
Familiarity with Cisco AI capabilities for collaboration, voice, contact center, AI assistants, and AI agents.
General understanding of AI concepts including LLMs, machine learning, AI agents, and practical enterprise AI use cases.
Cisco collaboration certifications such as CCNP Collaboration or CCIE Collaboration are beneficial but not required.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate is a senior hands-on UC engineer rather than a pure architect. Client needs someone capable of independently executing Webex Calling migrations and supporting the environment while also being comfortable interacting with business leaders.
Deep AI implementation expertise is not required. The successful candidate should instead have enough exposure to Cisco's AI strategy and capabilities to discuss AI agents, assistants, LLMs, machine learning, and potential voice/contact-center use cases credibly with stakeholders.
